Caffyn describes “Welcome Home” as a principle and a practice underlying all their work and play. In a Welcome Home ritual, we invite a problematic part of ourselves to come home. We co-create an embodied welcome and dialogue with the unwanted part. An experience of having “hard to hold” parts welcomed can help us integrate these parts, deepening capacity for intimacy, and self-intimacy. We don’t have to leave parts of ourselves out of relationship, because they need to be hidden, or fixed.
In this webinar, Caffyn Jesse will describe and demonstrate a “Welcome Home” ritual with colleagues West and Noah Klöze.
West
West (they/them) is a SSE student in CC5. They are also a sex worker, and a community cook. West can often be found making a brilliant mess in the kitchen, laying on the floor with their dog or telling stories on the phone. Right now they are particularly excited about how SSE can be in service to the communities they are a part of with a lens of harm reduction, disability justice and creativity as way towards joyful survival.
Noah Klöze
Noah Klöze is a Somatic Sex Educator living and working in ‘Victoria BC’. He supports clients online and in-person exploring landscapes of the erotic and trauma recovery. In his work he honours and centres explorations of power, creativity, counter normativity, ancestry, spirit, and, of course, joyful pleasure! Caffyn Jesse
Caffyn Jesse is a leading somatic sex educator who lives and works on Salt Spring Island in Canada and a co-founder of the ISSSE. They are the author of Science for Sexual Happiness, Intimacy Educator: Teaching Through Touch, Orientation: Mapping Queer Meanings, Pelvic Pain Clinic with Shauna Farabaugh and Elements of Intimacy (available free online).
