Somatic Sex Educators are uniquely positioned to be able to support clients in many different explorations of erotic embodiment and non-normative sexual expressions, for pleasure, and for healing. BDSM and Kink can provide a tool kit for talking about power, establishing and navigating consent, facilitating trauma healing, and deepening intimacy.
In this live webinar, SSEA President Cosmo Meens invites Kink Educator and Relationship coach Max Cameron into a conversation - Kink 101. They will discuss some of the history and lineage of BDSM, talk about their personal experiences of offering professional BDSM services, and explore some basic tools for crafting negotiations, consent in altered states, and cultivating explicit agency.
Max Cameron
Max has been active in Seattle's kink community since 1992 and has taught workshops and offered private coaching since 1999. He is nourished and guided by his strong roots in the BDSM, kink, queer, leather, and poly communities.
Max weaves his BDSM practice into his life because it's an especially effective way to build intimacy. The level of trust, communication, and active consent required for this practice creates beautiful, powerful experiences, and deep relationships.
Max has spent a lifetime building a range of skills, including the intimacy of rope bondage, the intensity of the singletail, the connection of erotic hypnosis, and the power of authority-transfer (D/S) relationships.

Cosmo Meens is a father, husband, son, brother and friend. Cosmo completed his Somatic Sex Educator training in 2017, and started working with Back to the Body: Sensuous Retreats for women shortly afterwards. He is a strong advocate of immersion-based learning and facilitated the first Apollo Project retreat in 2019. He has also been an active board member of the Somatic Sex Educators Association since 2018 and is currently the President.
