SSEA Membership
There are three levels of membership in the Somatic Sex Educators Association. Membership offers you connection with colleagues and mentors, professional development opportunities, and the opportunity to actively participate in the advancement and growth of our profession.
Professional Membership
Graduates of the ISSSE are eligible for professional membership, along with those who have done their Sexological Bodywork or similar body-based training elsewhere, and have completed the “post grad” course with the ISSSE. Benefits of Professional Membership in the SSEA include all the benefits of Student and Educational Membership, plus:
- The right to vote on matters affecting the association (after one year of professional membership),
- The opportunity to serve on the Board of the SSEA.
Professional Membership costs CAD$69.69 + gst/per year, and there is a one-time CAD$100 activation fee (except for Student Members who graduate from the program at the ISSSE, since they have already paid an activation fee). It renews automatically in February of each calendar year. For those joining in the middle of the year, dues are prorated to February 1st of the following year.
Student Membership
Student memberships are available for those enrolled in the Institute for the Study of Somatic Sex Education who have completed Core Course 4. Benefits of Student Membership in the SSEA include all the benefits of Educational Membership, plus:
- Professional Profile Listing in the SSEA Practitioner Directory, designated Practitioner in Training
- Ability to list your events in the SSEA online events calendar.
- Financial Support for attendance at conferences/events at which you support or promote the SSEA and Somatic Sex Education.
Student Membership costs CAD$69.69 + gst/per year, and there is a one-time CAD$100 activation fee. It renews automatically in February of each calendar year. When students at the ISSSE complete the program of study, their membership will convert to a Professional Membership with no additional activation fee.
Educational Membership
The SSEA educational membership is open to all people, including all students enrolled in the Institute for the Study of Somatic Sex Education (ISSSE). Benefits of Educational Membership in the SSEA include:
- Monthly Community Calls,
- Access to SSEA Member Resources,
- Member Pricing for Webinar Subscriptions, and
- Monthly Peer Support/Supervision.
Educational Membership costs CAD$39.69 + gst/per year, and there is no activation fee. This is a non-renewing membership, and can be purchased annually for two years.
